Before the century took a turn in 1996, Chu founded Huabao International Holdings. The company focuses on selling fragrances and tobacco flavoring around the world as Chu serves as the chairman of the company. Chu took her company public, in Hong Kong, around ten years after it started and this saw her net worth being inflated and her overall wealth being increased by far. She currently serves as a member of the Fifth Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Committee.
